What It Means to Be Rawsome

Like most great stories, ours began with a dog.

In 2016, a tubby "mini" golden doodle affectionately nicknamed, "Hank the Tank," claimed our hearts and joined our pack. Not only was he a whole pound heavier than his littermates, he was also the most chill. All Hank cared about (and still cares about) is being with his people and enjoying a good meal. Oh, and keeping toys away from his half-brother, Georgie.

Unfortunately, even though we fed him high quality puppy kibble, we recognized very quickly that he was prone to ear infections, bad breath (even with regular toothbrushing), skin irritation, and weight gain. Our vet's suggestion: medication and prescription dog food (which contained a lot of things we couldn't even pronounce). We knew there had to be another way.

So, after doing a lot of research, and joining a few helpful online communities of other health-conscious pet-parents, we decided to make the jump to raw feeding.

It wasn't easy at first (but anything worth doing is worth doing right). And it certainly wasn't cheap. But within a few months we noticed a huge change in Hank. No more ear infections. No more skin irritation. No more multiple giant poops. His breath even smelled better and we discovered he actually had a waist! Needless to say, we never went back to feeding kibble.

We have two doodles now and continue to raw feed. Our boys love their meals and we love the peace of mind knowing they're eating good and eating what's good for them.

We started Rawsome Pet Pantry to bring high-quality, nutritious, and affordable raw pet food to pets and their families within our local community. We hope you are inspired by our journey to embark on your own rawsome feeding adventure.
